Exciting Sunday School and Youth Group yesterday

Yesterday the Sunday School met and were so many that a few of our regular children joined the Youth Group instead. So thirteen of were left, a mixture of Americans, Nigerians, English-French and Madagascans, as well as Juanecia, our Caribbean contingent. Two of our youngest members decided to propose our Opening Prayer.

We quickly remembered our last couple of lessons, Jesus in the Temple, His Baptism and His Temptation in the Desert, before exploring in depth the topic of the day, which was the turning of the water into wine at the wedding in Cana. We thought about how Jesus shares with us our happiness and our sadness – about how much he loves and cares about us, how he uses the most mundane of vessels to accomplish great things and we touched briefly on how the ordinary wine was followed by the wonderful wine, a suggestion of how our earthly lives will be followed by a far more wonderful one to come.

The younger children were then happy to colour in the illustrations of the story while the older ones pitted their wits against the Wordsearch, the Crossword, the puzzles and the mulitple-choice questions based on the Bible text and the memory verse.

There were a total of five in our Youth Group sharing discussion was based on Mark 2:1-12 (Jesus Forgives and Heals a Paralyzed Man).

Everyone shared and learnt heartedly about God’s grace and mercy and forgives our sins. Reflection on how Sin came about in Genesis, plus what is Sin (1st reading from Exodus). Lastly listening to “Covered – by Planetshakers” and saying a prayer together from the lyrics.

Everyone then returned to the chapel to join the adults for Communion.
